Instant worship isn’t real love
Protect your heart from love bombing
Hi there,
We talk a lot about love-bombing. The term is everywhere, tossed around to describe anyone who comes on strong, showers us with affection, and then disappears just as quickly.
It’s understandable why the word caught fire: The experience can be deeply painful and confusing.
But the truth about love-bombing is more complex than what social media makes it out to be. Not everyone who moves fast is manipulative. Sometimes, what looks like love-bombing is something much simpler — and more human: an inability to regulate emotion.
When someone can’t process their own enthusiasm, or when they’re overwhelmed by attraction, hope, or excitement, they can overextend.
Their nervous system is flooded. They text all day, make big promises, talk about the future before there’s a present.
They’re not trying to deceive you. Maybe they’re ungrounded. Maybe they’re incapable of true emotional intimacy to the extreme.
But when someone instantly worships you, it is a red flag.
